Triangle North Healthcare Foundation Executive Director Val Short
Triangle North Healthcare Foundation’s Executive Director Val Short has over 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, including 16 years as vice president for a regional hospital in Roanoke Rapids where she had responsibility for the hospital Foundation, Human Resources, Marketing, and other departments. Short has also held a regional marketing consultant position for a national skilled nursing and rehabilitation company. She joined Triangle North Healthcare Foundation in Henderson in March, 2012.
“It is an pleasure and privilege to serve as Executive Director of this Foundation, which has such tremendous potential to make a difference in the health and well-being of the residents in the region.” said Val. “Although our focus is on health, we believe the work of this Foundation will ultimately have a positive impact on the economic and social health in the region.”
A native of Swansboro, NC, Val has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in public health, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.
Val is a member and vice chairman of the Henderson BPW and currently serves on the board for Franklin-Granville-Vance Smart Start. She is an Ambassador for the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Vance County Women’s Economic Equity Council. In January, 2014, Val was named Career Woman of the Year by the NC Business and Professional Women.
In her spare time, Val is a writer and photographer. and she authors a regular food blog, Captain Charlie’s Daughter.
